J. Robert Ramsey, founder of the firm, began the practice of law in 1929 and continued until just weeks prior to his death in 1979. Wade Baxley joined the firm as partner in 1971, Joel Ramsey became a partner in 1973, Charles McDougle became partner in 1985 and Hamp Baxley became a partner in 2003. The law firm is currently made up of these four partners and one associate, Dustin Byrd, supported by a staff of six legal assistants and a receptionist.
Business Hours:
Ramsey, Baxley & McDougle is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. The firm usually closes from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. each day for lunch. Appointments to obtain legal counsel and legal aid are not necessary, but are recommended. Legal consultation outside of regular business hours are available. Please contact us to check on the availability of one of our attorneys for legal help.
Geographic Practice Area:
Our lawyers primarily practice in Southeast Alabama, an area commonly referred to as the Wiregrass area. The counties in this area include Houston County, Dale County, Geneva County, Henry County, Pike County, Covington County, Barbour County, Coffee County, Crenshaw County, and Bullock County. Various municipalities in the area include Dothan, Ozark, Abbeville, Geneva, Slocomb, Enterprise, Troy, Eufaula, Union Springs, Midland City, Hartford, Andalusia, Elba, Clayton and Columbia.
